Welcome to the very first posting from the Eco Shopping Guide!
Why still another blog -- and about shopping at that? Well, there are a few answers to this question.
First of all, most of us really, really like to shop. While we may not be doing quiate as much of it these days, there are still some necessities (and a few affordable indulgences?) that we just can't AFFORD to do without. So...if we really must shop anyway, why not "go eco".
Traditional marketers (and yep, I used to be one of them) used to preach about the importance of the four Ps in influencing our buying decisions: Product, Promotion, Packaging and Price. However, it seems time for these to be joined by the new "E" for ecological.
Here the new E really refers to any product that you might consider organic, natural, sustainable, environmentally friendly or truly green (and not green washed, but that is going to be the topic of a wholly separate conversation). Whether you are totally committed to a lifestyle that adheres strictly to these principles or just wanting to do your part to help the planet at least a little bit, this is for you.
